"Lorca Es Flamenco" is a timely tribute to Spain's most esteemed poet, presented by the St. Louis Cultural Flamenco Society. This new bilingual multimedia performance is one of the Society's most ambitious yet: choreographing original dances to illustrate the work of Federico Garcia Lorca. Audiences can experience the moving poetry, songs and dances in two performances on Mother's Day, May 14, at the Westport Playhouse in Westport Plaza. “Lorca Es Flamenco” underscores the famed writer’s lifelong love of music as well as his advocacy for marginalized groups in Spain and around the world. It also touches on universal themes like unrequited love, war, and death, but also hope and happiness.
