Name:
Thursday Nights at the Museum: Global Pride History
Date:
October 3, 2024
Time:
5:00 PM - 8:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Thursday Nights at the Museum is a weekly series where museum exhibits are open later and you can enjoy pop-up activities, a cash bar, food, and more! In 1994, Missouri high school history teacher Rodney Wilson founded LGBT History Month, a concept that has spread across the globe and now celebrated by more than 20 countries at various times throughout the year. We’ll celebrate the global influence of Wilson’s efforts on the 30th anniversary of the very first LGBT History Month. Wilson will kick off the program with a short presentation, followed by a conversation with representatives from around the world, who will join us virtually to share the stories of their own country’s celebrations. Join us in the Grand Hall before the program to enjoy food and drinks available for purchase from the Key Bistro. You can visit resource tables to learn more about local LGBTQIA+ organizations and history. We also encourage you to take this time to speak to St. Louis LGBTQIA+ history makers and members of our local community.
